What a gorgeous day!!  I can't believe we were lucky enough to nearly hit 70 degrees the first week of March on the day of their photo session.  I was so excited to see this family again.  Last summer I took her maternity photos, then saw them as new parents with a newborn.  One of my favorite perks with this job is building client relationships and getting to see these kids grow!  He was SO gosh darn cute!!  He smiled at me the entire time, I didn't even have to work for it!

Since it -was- sooo windy, we took advantage of some alley's and buildings around downtown Grayslake to block the wind.  Shooting around town is one of my favorite's because you have a nice variety of textures and structures to give you different looks within the same session (think staircases, alleys, benches, doorways,etc.!)  This is also great for this season when we are waiting for those wild flowers to bloom!

Saturday's Mini's: Part 2 {chicago north shore family photographer}

Saturday afternoon I got to meet with one of my favorite families!  This handsome guy just turned -three- .. whoa!  Big boy now!  The sun was shining which made the afternoon session a bit warmer, so we embraced the light and tromped into the field!  I am loving the mix of texture and sunlight in these grasses right now!

Saturday's Mini's: Part 1 {libertyville illinois photographer}

The sun was out and it was actually pretty seasonably warm (40!) on Saturday for our Valentine mini's! Unfortunately the wind was a big obnoxious, especially in the early morning! We made the best of it, embraced the sun, and had a great time!

First up.. a gorgeous mama, almost to her due date (can you believe how amazing she looks?), a handsome hubby, and a couple of beautiful little girls. What a blessed family!

We often think of winter as the dead season, but I personally feel that the neutral landscape full of texture provides the perfect backdrop to highlight the subjects in the photographs. Neutral backdrops (in comparison to bright green grass, for example) often fit into our home color schemes as well!

You may remember these guys from awhile back.  I never got a chance to share their full session so here are few of my fav's!

Patty is one of my best friends and has really been a true blessing to me through these last few tough months. I have been so blessed to have her as a neighbor (as have my kids!).  One of the many perks of my job is that I get to share it with those that I love!

Let it Snow! | {chicago children's portrait photographer}

I have been waiting for it to snow so I could get some great wintery portraits and it finally snowed Saturday morning!  We actually rescheduled this session to give the little man a little bit more time to sit up on his own and I'm so glad we did!  The winter air kept him calm and content, and the pop of color against a white snowy backdrop is always one of my favorite's!

This little guy is SIX months old!!  Many of you remember his newborn session.. all that hair!!  Here's a little before and after:

Wintery sessions are so much fun!  Think bright colors, hot cocoa, snowball fights.. family fun. :)
